The film tries way too hard to establish ABCD as the new term for NRIs, so much so that it gets repetitive, with random men in both the US and India calling our protagonist duo as ABCD instead of their names. How their paths cross, and if Avi ever learns his lesson is what ABCD is all about. On the other hand are the Finance Minister (Subhalekha Sudhakar) who believes a common man can live on Rs 38 per day and his son Bhargav (Raja Chembolu) who’s gearing up to take over the reins from his father. Once there, the duo are forced to make ends meet and live on a monthly stipend of Rs 5000 in a slum.
Avi’s father (Naga Babu) tries to instil the value of money in his son before giving up and sending him to India on a month-long ‘vacation’ with his cousin. So much so, that they believe they are entitled to any money their parents earn and have a right to lead the life their parents couldn’t.
But by then the ship has sailed so far, it cannot even be seen in the horizon.Īvi (Allu Sirish) and his cousin Basha (Master Bharat) love their partying and aimless ways too much to take life too seriously. There are a lot of jokes made initially about the quintessential ‘dirty India’, ‘desi girls not wearing bikinis’, women marrying multiple times and idlys being eaten like burgers before Sanjeev Reddy brings the film to the heart of it.
